libevent & spinning

This sounds similar to the problem that Slashdot was having with
poll, though I'm not convinced it was the same:  I don't believe our
machines went to 100% CPU when their memcached's stopped responding,
quite the opposite, they went to 0%.

But when you get the new libevent out, I'm game for trying it again
on our less-important OSDN sites again, and then if it works, for
them, on Slashdot.  Let us know :)
