Memcached "squeezed" out of memory?

This can be an issue with the linux kernel which - in case of running
low on memory - starts to simply kill processes to save the systems
as*.

THe original poster wrote he has 2GB of RAM and runs 4 512MB memcached
processes, besides this, there is the system, Apache and probably
other things. Sounds like this:
