I sent a message to the libevent mailing list and got a response that
Nick (one of the maintainers) is working on fixed Windows code on
libevent 1.4 which is still in beta and as you said, haven't bee
checked with memcached.<br>

I'm trying to reach him and see if I can back port some of the new code
he has been working on.<br>

I've compiled libevent 1.3e but I had to fix a couple of htings for it
to compile on VS2005 (and Windows in general).
It seems the Win32 code is not really up to date there.
I currently have it compiled but none of the tests work (the signal
test, for example, doesn't actually make the signal work).
Do you know some people in the libevent mailing list or others that are
willing to help me make libeven 1.3e work well on Windows?

Please use a more recent version if possible. It'll allow us to report
bugs and not get laughed at.
Please feel free to link to patches or post them to the list. I'll (at
least me, anyway) will work with win32 patches to ensure they do not
disturb building under our unix targets.

What version of libevent is used in 1.2.4 (the minimum required
version, at least officially) ?
We need to get the 1.2.1 code up-to-date with 1.2.4 and make sure
both it and the right version of libevent that is used on other
places works well.
I also want to make sure there are projects files for VS2005 and it
compiles well on it (all of the necessary parts).
It is time for memcached-win32 to be a part of the main memcached
release :-)
