Looks like that did it. Within 500 lines of:

This was printed a couple times:
Backend had a client: Perlbal::ClientHTTPBase=ARRAY(0x8855e84), we are 
Perlbal::ClientHTTPBase=ARRAY(0x8855e84)

Hasn't crashed after a few hours. Pre-patch perlbal wouldn't stay up for 
more than 30 minutes. I'll let it cook overnight though.
