Well certainly it can do what ever it wants; including returning FOAF 
[or
streams of customized ads it fetched from comarketing partners :-)] to 
the
it's AJAX java script that's running on the user's browser.  I don't 
think that
needs to be in the spec though.

I'd move any discussion of what kind of clever things might be done with
the info on the user's page to a non-normative appendix.  Like you say 
...

It gets kind of rich on heuristics at that point.
