A C client for memcached

Hi all,
I'm in the process of implementing a C client for memcached and
I was looking at the current clients written in other
langauages. I was wondering which of the implementations
available on memcached site is the most tested and known for
good stability/performance? This will help me finish what I want
to do as quickly as possible.
