Server Selection

Hi Guys,

I have just started implementing Memcached on our website. We have  
only moved a small section across at the moment but it looks to be  
working really well!

I have a question about the hashing that Memcached uses to select  
what server to retrieve a Item from.
I was reading a article (http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/7451)  
that says that Memcached uses the items keys to calculate a hash to  
determine what server the item is on.

My question is when I am adding my servers into my memcached client  
will it be affected if one of my web servers is missing a Memcached  
server or if the weights are different?

btw I am using the Java API.
