Memcache slow on OS X

November/000871.html discusses major performance problems with  
memcache on OS X. I'm seeing exactly these problems now with memcache  
1.1.11 Have these issues been fixed in later versions, or is it still  
Apple's problem? I currently have a roundtrip time of about 5 sec for  
each memcache call, which is several million times slower than  
hitting my DB!
