binary protocol

Hello,

I am planning to use memcached to store object ids from an oodbms.

1. is the binary protocol ready yet?
2. is the consistent hashing for java ready yet?

I have tested the windoz version, and it was not that fast. (as opposed to
keeping objects in a java hashmap)
Is there a lot of performance penalty in the current windows version?
