memcached as a black hole...

Hi there!

I've recently set up memcached on two webservers. When I connect from
one of the servers to the other one and try to store stuff in memcached
(through telnet) it works fine and I can also get the data back.

However if I connect to the other server, I can still store stuff there,
but I can't retrieve it:

set test2 1 0 2
ab
STORED
get test2
END

The setup on both machines is (should be) identical (Gentoo Linux,
memcached 1.2.1).

Has this happened to anybody else? Any advice where I should start
looking to resolve this?
