access denied error connecting to memcached

Hello! I'm hoping someone knows the answer to this :).  I have memcached
running under user nobody, the -u switch... I have the php extensions and
python extensions installed and from command line I can connect to the
server and store objects.

Using apache and making the web request to the same php script yields an
access denied error.

Any ideas?
