build Memcache in debian 4.0

Hi,

I am building memcached-1.2.5 in Debian Etch which has a kernel with
epoll, but it has an following error:

checking for libevent directory... configure: error: libevent is
required.  You can get it from http://www.monkey.org/~provos/libevent/

      If it's already installed, specify its path using --with-libevent=/dir/

How can config the memcache with epoll rather than libevent?
