I am using a recent Debian:
coryb at thor:/tmp$ cat /etc/debian_version
3.1

coryb at thor:/tmp$ gcc --version
2.95.4

I didnt think to use the debian apt-get, which has Linux::AIO-1.4, I am too 
used to using CPAN for everything.  

If any more info is needed, let me know.
