How many of the queries will be cached (at the tracker and the fs  
level?)?

Figure that out - then figure out how many disk I/Os you'll need in  
your peak hour.  Then add a bit for redundancy.

Depending on your usage patterns it might work well to have a slower  
backend storage (with mogile) and a faster setup (faster disks etc)  
for caching in front with varnish or squid.
