Force replication to go one direction only

Well, if there are no files on A that aren't anywhere else, then you
can go ahead and mark A as 'dead', reformat it, and make it a new
device.  That's the typical thing to do when a device fails.  Kill it
to remove it from the pool, wipe it, and put it back in as a new
device.
