Thanks for that.  I have looked at Erik's code.  By the time he 
released it, we were already pretty well down the road with our PEAR 
package.  We're using the PEAR package in production now.

It's good there are alternatives.  I think there would be a real 
benefit to a PEAR package, as PEAR is a familiar approach for a lot of folks.
