DJabberd is currently lacking support for the server-to-component 
protocol (JEP-0114), which is a variation on c2s designed for components 
running in separate processes to connect over a socket to a Jabber server.

With that in place, DJabberd would in theory be able to use any 
socket-based component that can talk to jabberd 1, including all of the 
transports.
