The previous discussion suggested that the quirks behavior described in

The DJabberd instance we run internally at Six Apart seems to be having 
some troubles with sending stanzas to Google Talk, so I think there is 
still an issue of some kind, but I don't have our resident Jabber server 
admin handy to find out what precisely it's doing.
