linuxjournal article on memcached

The August 2004 issue of LinuxJournal has my memcached article in it.

It's also now online:

One part at least is already out of date, but a part not dealing with
memcached.  I wrote:

     "and Perl can't handle tons of network connections at once."

(talking about the early memcached prototype).  But since then
LiveJournal's new load balancer is written in Perl, and uses Perl's
syscall function to get at the epoll system calls.

Let me know if you have any questions after reading the article, or find
other things that are now out-of-date.
