memcached 1.2.2 compile error

Paul,

That seemed to work.  I commented out assert() on lines 686 and 1739 and it
compiled with no warnings.  That's really strange, why would the compiler
die because of an assert() call?

That's a good point about the 2.6 kernel, we're in the process of upgrading
web servers, which also involves porting our proprietary code to 64bit so
it'll be a while.  1.1.13 compiled fine, I could just use that until we're
fully upgraded.

What would you guys recommend?
