I think it's worth a shot.  I'm about to commit to running
multithreaded on a large number of cache servers.

I've been merging from trunk into multithreaded and it hasn't been
much of a problem.

I just checked out the patch at

Looks pretty straightforward and non-invasive.

I can commit that to the repo if the author and community are okay
